After a complete home renovation in 2009, cabinet refacing this past October, having owned a dog (who sadly passed away in 2012), and two kids, we felt it was time to have our air ducts cleaned out. Had an appointment for 10am, but Patrick called to say he was running behind and arrived promptly at 11am. Once they arrived, Patrick and I did a walk through of all our home to count the number of air vents and proceeded to setup this massive hose for suction. Patrick explained every step along the way of what he was doing and the how it would work. Both Patrick and Tom were very pleasant and easy to work with and communicate with. Needless to say, our ducts are sparkling clean. During the work, Patrick indicated some trouble spots that I should be aware of that could definitely impact lost heating/cooling which would result in higher bills. One was that in each floor vent had a gap where the duct did not completely reach the flooring and so air would escape underneath the floor before it reached the vent. He said that was an easy fix as I could use the silver reflective tape that is used to seal the joints on ducts to bridge the gap so that 100% of the air would make it to the vent. The second problem has a more costlier fix. Apparently, when we added central air/heat to our house back in 2009, the previous contractor did not add a return in every room. In fact, the ground floor did not have a return at all. He explained that a return balances the positive pressure with negative pressure in order to create better circulation of the air. This would make our HVAC more efficient because it wouldn’t have to work as hard. We talked about solutions on how we could resolve this, but this is going to cost us a bit. However, Patrick did say that with the proper returns in place, we could see savings of up to 30% which is pretty substantial. All in all, I was very happy with the service that Life Air provided. I appreciated Patrick’s candor and help with identifying problems in our home.
